Farnham & District Ramblers

South-west Surrey

On Saturday 30th July 12 walkers participated in this walk following part of the Isle of Wight Coastal Path from Sandown to Bembridge and then on to Ryde.
A train journey from Petersfield to Portsmouth Harbour, a ferry to Ryde and then the former London Underground train from Ryde to Sandown took us to the start of the walk. The day was pleasant and sunny and the views were spectacular particularly from Culver Down. As a result of a delay in the arrival of the train at Portsmouth some of the group were unable to complete the full walk and made their way home after (late) lunch at the Lifeboat Station pier near Bembridge. However 5 of the group continued to the end. Our thanks go to Chris Hodge for organising this Saturday Special.
